Seafaring Sunday: Rose Hill Packet

November 6, 1789: The first vessel built by Europeans in Australia was launched in Sydney Harbor.  Known as the Rose Hill Packet or "The Lump", she was crafted by convicts and worked under both oars and sails.  She would have had one mast and looked a little like a smaller version of the lugger above (via
