I had hoped to put up a "real" post today but, most unfortunately, things are happening very fast aboard our ship. I have been diagnosed with cancer and will be undergoing a left-sided mastectomy and ovarictomy tomorrow morning.
Because of the unknowns surrounding my recovery time, Triple P will be on hiatus until further notice.
One of my greatest joys is researching and writing the posts I offer here, along with all of the Brethren's wonderful feedback and support. At this time, I ask only for your continued support as my family and I sail on into unknown waters.
I'll be back sooner than later and until then, please enjoy the archives.

I'm sorrier to hear this than I can say. You're one of my favorite online people--oh, hell, one of my favorite people, period. I'm not very good at prayer, but I just want you to know I'll be sending whatever positive thoughts I can your way.
ReplyDeleteWe all look forward to seeing you back.
All the best from this side of the pond. I'll be thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Pauline. Warm thoughts are headed your way.
ReplyDeleteFor what's worth, I met my future mother-in-law in the hospital -- prepped for the same procedure and just an hour or so before the operation began. She came out just fine on the other side and that was 22 years ago. She celebrates her 88th birthday later this year.
Go at it and never give up!
Mitch
I occaissionally come to your blog to re-live my past lives aboard sailing ships.
ReplyDeleteI wish you the best in your recovery, and anxiously await your next post.
God bless.
Andrew from Alberta
Thank you so much one an all. After another full day at the hospital, it looks like things are just a bit more complicated than originally thought. Back there again at 7 tomorrow morning; when I'll be home is up in the air. But I will be back as soon as I can. I find there's very little that can keep me from what I love.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for your support. And Huzzah! to fairer winds ahead!
To all the Brethren:
ReplyDeletePlease send your most positive thoughts to whatever higher powers you may or may not believe in for Pauline over these coming days. I and our girls will be holding down the ship until she returns from the sick bay. Thankee to all for your kind words, thoughts and prayers.
The First Mate.
I'm very sad to learn about this. If there is anyone I "know" who has the courage of a pirate, and the fortitude of a privateer - it's got to be you. May God bless you, and watch over Tim and the kids as you recover.

Hold fast, mate.
ReplyDeleteThat's the pirate answer. Lou says, "Blessed be," and may your guardian spirits watch over you and yours and keep all safe and in peace.
I'll be thinking of you and sending positive vibes your way. Speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteHang in there, Pauline, and know we'll all be saying prayers for ye!
ReplyDeleteHey Pauline,
ReplyDeleteI just read your comment on my blog and am sick about it. My first instinct was to say if there's anyone who will beat cancer it's a badass pirate chick. I've been having some health stuff myself lately, not anywhere near as serious. There's a 5-10% chance that what I have is thyroid cancer. But I keep getting these calls from doctors at my office with it might be this or it might be that. Or we have to re-run this test. I start to get upset about it but people say oh you'll be fine.
And I keep thinking can you just give me 5 fucking minutes to freak out about cancer and then I'll put on my happy face?
So I'm going to know that you will be well and healthy but I hope you're also giving yourself a chance to be mad and afraid. Sending you much love and prayers. beck
Oh Beck; I know how you feel. We're still waiting on a test to determine the best course of treatment post-op and that, as you know, is the worst part.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much; and I will have you in my thoughts as well.
Let me know what happens. Waiting is the worst thing and it's almost a given with this stuff. I never understand why it's okay to wait and wait. Such crap. xos b
ReplyDeleteGood god woman. My apologies for not reading this sooner. Wishing you warmest regards and a fair wind for the future.
ReplyDeleteNo worries, my friend. Things are much better now - six weeks post op tomorrow. Radiation therapy is an unknown as yet so we'll see how that goes. My goal now is Halloween; I'll be done by then and looking forward to reconstruction.
