As an adult, he worked as a carriage painter, but ended up in poverty and living in a poorhouse in Rockland, Maine, his father's hometown. He died in an accidental drowning at the age of 41. She is another in a long list of women heroes of the sea that an unfortunately small number of people know about. Keep spreading the word!Paulinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11730716060906158244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-876794033107456809.post-46840053171443882412010-09-23T07:48:51.966-08:002010-09-23T07:48:51.966-08:00Thanks for spreading the word about Mary and her h...Thanks for spreading the word about Mary and her heroic efforts! I'm a big fan of her story (so much so that I wrote a song about the story of Neptune's Car and later took this name for my Folk duo). I haven't found much news from the last two years, but apparently they've raised enough money to fully restore her. She's supposed to be fully restored by 2011.

The Cutty Sark also has a blog.Daggarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04043427851007518129noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-876794033107456809.post-14219171209559296882010-06-22T22:35:38.206-08:002010-06-22T22:35:38.206-08:00Ahoy, Timmy! It's too bad Mary and her husband both died so young and left their little boy an orphan, but I guess that happened a lot in those days, Pirate Queen.Timmy!https://www.blogger.com/profile/09902641426229272672noreply@blogger.com
