Many people don't know the tragic story, however, so that's something. I guess.

But, come to think of it, the whole thing has tragic opera written all over it too...Paulinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11730716060906158244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-876794033107456809.post-19969277092855800692010-04-08T04:34:34.250-08:002010-04-08T04:34:34.250-08:00Good grief, what a story. I'll have to keep poor Mr. Kidd in mind the next time I think I'm having a bad day.

If only there was some way to tack on a happy ending, it would all sound like something out of "The Pirates of Penzance," wouldn't it?Undinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16214242522330278662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-876794033107456809.post-84204477381056184312010-04-07T19:15:23.532-08:002010-04-07T19:15:23.532-08:00Ahoy, Ozarklorian! I knew about the Robert Livingston who was Edward's older brother and one of the negotiators of the much misunderstood Treaty of Ghent, but not their ancestor. No such thing at all.

And think of the looks poor Mrs. Kidd must have gotten and Trinity Church every Sunday.

It's a bummer all around.Paulinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11730716060906158244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-876794033107456809.post-17679408943459182212010-04-07T15:52:08.807-08:002010-04-07T15:52:08.807-08:00Ahoy, Pauline! Not only was Kidd "Indecisive, incapable in command and easily duped" he was obviously a terrible negotiator as well: "no percentage stipulated specifically for himself or his crew"... What a marroon. But then he compounds his mistakes over and over again. I have to say that William Kidd is arguably the most pathetic of all the "Pathetic Pirates" you have written about, so far at least, Pirate Queen.Timmy!https://www.blogger.com/profile/09902641426229272672noreply@blogger.com
